Im coming in late. I believe the ps2 went the way they did for this intro cutscene was to prevent the god awful framerate drop in which every ps2 player knows about. They changed angle and scene a couple moments probably to give it less to load to keep it playing more smoothly. That said admittedly a few parts definitely are more cinematic in general and they probably should have dome those moments for "all" rather than just the ps2 regardless if they did it due to performance issues.

I prefer this Durandal appearance and animation to what they went with, especially for Eliwood. It makes a lot more sense to attack with a thrust since that’s how he attacks pre-promotion with his rapier.

I had a roommate that was playing FE7 or the first time. In random conversation, he told me he felt Nils was an irrelevant character. I then told him Nils is a dragon. Naturally, he assumed I was making crap up. I tend to do that. After the truth was revealed, he started Path of Radiance. He entered a random house, and had a brief encounter with Nasir, before he became plot relevant. I told him that Nasir is a magic dragon that lives by the sea. And also that Ena is a dragon. Again, he thought I was making stuff up. About 10 years pass, and FE Engage comes out. I then told him in FE Engage that Alear is a dragon. As this is common knowledge, he has no reason to doubt me. Unfortunately, I'm at the point where I think he'd just believe anything I tell him about dragons. I've resisted the urge to tell him that Alear is actually the ghost of an extradimensional time traveling zombie dragon.

I freaking haaaaaate this boss.
